Golden Orb Discovered Deep in the Ocean Reveals Its Secrets at Last

Today’s story takes us two miles beneath the Gulf of Alaska, where a mysterious golden orb puzzled scientists and sparked imaginations around the world.

First spotted in 2023 by NOAA researchers, the orb was so strange that one scientist joked it felt like the start of a sci-fi movie. For two and a half years, its true nature remained a riddle, with guesses ranging from deep-sea egg to something out of the X-Files.

Now, after careful study and a bit of scientific patience, the orb has been revealed as a remnant from the base of a giant deep-sea anemone, Relicanthus daphneae. It’s not an alien or a lost treasure, but a reminder of how much we still have to learn about our own planet.

Rocky Marciano Retires as Undefeated Heavyweight Boxing Champion

Rocky Marciano retired at age 32 as the only heavyweight boxing champion to hold the title without a tie or defeat during his entire career. Known for his relentless fighting style, stamina, and iron chin, he achieved an 87.75% knockout percentage, one of the highest in heavyweight history. While serving in the Army, he won the 1946 Amateur Armed Forces boxing tournament and was ranked by many boxing historians as one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time.

Marciano's legacy extended beyond the boxing ring, inspiring the character Rocky Balboa in Sylvester Stallone's Rocky film and book series. The fictional Rocky dreams of becoming like his idol, Rocky Marciano, and receives a boxing-glove necklace made from a cufflink given by his trainer, Mickey, who had received it from Marciano himself.
