AI Glasses Project Labels on Objects to Help People With Dementia Recognize Their World

Imagine slipping on a pair of glasses that gently helps you remember the world around you. That’s the promise of new AI-powered eyewear designed for people living with dementia. These smart glasses can recognize everyday objects and project their names right onto the lenses, offering a quiet nudge when memory falters.

What’s striking is how seamlessly the technology blends into daily life. Instead of relying on a phone or a caregiver’s reminder, users see helpful labels appear in real time as they move through their home or neighborhood.

This innovation matters because it’s about dignity and independence. For someone who might forget the word for “toothbrush” or “keys,” a subtle prompt can mean the difference between frustration and confidence.

It’s early days for this technology, but it’s easy to imagine a future where gentle, supportive tools like these become part of how we care for each other.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: March 23, 1775

Patrick Henry Delivers "Give Me Liberty, or Give Me Death" Speech to Virginia Legislators

American Founding Father Patrick Henry addressed the Virginia legislature on March 23, 1775, delivering one of history's most iconic speeches advocating colonial independence from British rule. The debate centered on whether Virginia should adopt a petition against imperial overreach, but Henry pushed for a more radical resolution to raise a militia independent of royal authority, recognizing that conflict with Britain was inevitable. His dramatic speech, in which he declared that the chains of Virginians were "already forged" and "may be heard clanking in the plains of Boston," concluded with him plunging an ivory letter opener toward his chest in imitation of Roman patriot Cato the Younger.

Thanks in part to Henry's persuasive speech, the resolution passed by a narrow margin, with two future U.S. Presidents, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, voting in the affirmative, setting the stage for the American Revolution.

Other notable March 23 events:
